Changing the Financial Mindset: AACUC Partners with AFCPE to Provide Accessible Professional Certification

October 25, 2016

Monday, October 25, Westerville, OH: Aligning with shared values of professional development and diversity, the Association of Financial Counseling & Planning Education® (AFCPE®) and the African American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) are proud to announce their partnership to provide the highest standard of professional certification training to credit union professionals.

“Partnering with AFCPE opens new doors for our professionals and the community of individuals and families that they serve,” said Tim Anderson, AACUC Board Chair. “We are thrilled to offer credit unions who register through the AACUC Financial education program the opportunity to earn the AFC® certification at a discounted rate.”

The AFC® certification is nationally recognized and accredited by the National Commissions for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), confirming the AFC as the highest standard for the field of financial counseling and education. The program trains professionals to guide clients through a holistic counseling framework of life cycle financial education, allowing the professional to provide a high-level, tailored approach based on the needs of each client to effectively analyze and create lasting financial behavior change.

AFC professionals are equipped to navigate clients through financial crises such as credit and debt issues, bankruptcy, and foreclosure. Additionally, they work with clients to develop and implement effective spending plans, eliminate debt, build savings, and create meaningful solutions to maintain financial stability and reach a client’s financial goals.

The African American Credit Union Coalition was founded with the mission to increase the strength of the credit union community through Advocacy, Professional Development, and Diversity. “AFCPE celebrates the diversity of our professionals and the individuals and families that we serve,” said Rebecca Wiggins, AFCPE® Executive Director. “We are excited to partner with ACCUC, an organization that aligns with our values and mission and whose professionals are passionate about helping families achieve lasting financial wellbeing.”
