MFLN Webinar: The Foreclosure Process

January 24, 2017 @ 11 AM - 12:30 PM EST

1.5 CEUs for AFCPE Certified Professionals

The US experienced the Great Recession with national unemployment rates soaring to 10% in October 2009 (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, n.d.a.) During this time, some households and communities experienced significant housing instability. While foreclosure rates have declined somewhat during recent years, the issue is not over and many households are still facing foreclosure. This webinar will describe the options to keep, sell or let foreclosure happen. National mortgage pre-foreclosure regulations and the timeline from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) will be explained. Updates will be addressed about federal prevention assistance programs including Making Homes Affordable (MHA) and Hardest Hit Funds (HHF). Additional topics include the impact of foreclosure has on credit reports, where to find foreclosure data, the counselor’s role, and special protections for active military service members.
