Military Consumer Protection Awareness
Approved for 1.5 CEUs for AFCPE Professionals
The 90-minute webinar will cover the Military Lending Act (MLA), which was enacted in 2006 and implemented by the Department of Defense (DoD) and protects active duty members of the military, their spouses, and their dependents from certain lending practices. These practices could pose risks for service members and their families and could pose a threat to military readiness and affect service member retention. This webinar will also provide a general overview of the Servicemember Civil Relief Act, particularly its consumer protections, including the ability to: get reduced interest rates on certain loans; to postpone foreclosure, eviction, and repossession; and to terminate a phone contract or auto/residential lease.
