At AFCPE® we take standards very seriously. We set the bar high. It’s these high standards that set the AFC® designation apart from others. One of the ways we are committed to high standards is by developing a strong exam. To do this, we need your support.
Every five years, AFCPE® conducts a national job analysis of financial counselors and educators to identify any necessary updates. When we introduce new material to the exam, we must temporarily suspend automatic scoring of the AFC® exam to ensure the exam is valid and fair.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ME?
If you test between 3/1/2025 and 3/31/2025 you will not receive your score automatically. Scores from this testing period will be released in mid-May and will be delivered by mail. Additionally, all testing will be closed from 4/1/2025 – 5/11/2025 to provide time for data analysis. No AFC® exams will be administered during this time. Testing will resume 5/12/2025 with immediate scoring.

Any candidate who has not passed the AFC exam with a certification deadline between March 1 and May 12, 2025 has been provided with a complimentary extension through 7/31/2025.
