- Free online training (eligible for experience hours)
- Help your community through volunteering to prepare tax returns (eligible for experience hours)
- Gain knowledge in tax law and preparation to help your neighbors and yourself
Training may be submitted via the “Related Training” category with the certificate of completion or transcript provided as the supporting documentation. The courses have been pre-approved for the following experience hours:
- VITA- Advanced 30
- VITA- Basic Exam 20
- VITA- Intake/Interview 3
- VITA- Specialty Courses 20/ each
- VITA- Standards of Conduct 3
Hours spent preparing tax returns may be submitted in the “Counseling & Coaching” category, with the Experience Verification Form required as supporting documentation. Often the site coordinator or volunteer coordinator can sign off on the hours.
Programs operate in communities all over the country and may have virtual volunteer options as well. This is a great opportunity to learn and earn experience while giving back to your community!
