April is Financial Literacy Month. Let’s break the silence. Let’s talk about money.

#MyFinLitStory

“In our culture, money is not only a basic need, but also a measure of success…[and] anything that can be conflated with our sense of value as humans is often difficult to discuss with ease.”1

If you work in personal finance…we want to hear from you! Please share your story!

“Listen to the people you are serving. Listen to their stories, their dreams, their setbacks. Look them in the eye, show compassion, and share your own story with authenticity and transparency.

Then, you’ll be in a position to share your own knowledge and truly make a positive impact to help change lives for the better.”

~ Ellie Kay, AFCPE Board Member

By Friday, April 5 we invite you to:

  1. Email your story to us! A story about your personal financial journey – one that helps connect your passion for this profession!  It doesn’t need to be long (100 – 500 words), just authentic.

Need an example? Scott Henderson shared a great personal financial journey story in his #FridayFollow spotlight

  2. Send us a picture.

Need some inspiration? Check out this inspiring Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/humansofny/. Not feeling creative? That’s okay – leave the creativity to us. Any picture will do.

Then, throughout the month of April, we will share your stories on our blog and our Instagram page using the hashtag #MyFinLitStory.

PS – we’d love it if you’d share them too!

Enter to Win:

Send us your story by no later than April 1, 2019.

Every participant will be entered into a drawing and on May 1st, 2019, we will randomly select 1 winner to receive:

  • 2019 AFCPE Membership
(or 2020 Membership if you are already a 2019 AFCPE member!)

AND

  • FREE AFC® exam!
This can be for you or, if you are already certified, you can give it to a friend!

REMEMBER: You don’t need to be an AFCPE Member, certification candidate, or certified professional to participate! If you are working in the personal finance space, we want to hear from you!

Or send this article to a friend who is working in the field and who would love to get certified or become a member of the AFCPE community!
